Terms & Conditions

The minimum number of officers/supervisors, vehicles, and hours required for the performance of a paid duty shall be determined by York Regional Police at its discretion, based on the nature of the event.

The minimum number of hours invoiced per event shall be no less than four (4) for each member, booked in 30 minute increments. Invoicing shall be calculated to the nearest hour or half hour, as the case may be upon the officers being dismissed from the work site.

Paid Duties in excess of nine (9) hours in length may be divided into shifts at the discretion of the Paid Duty Unit.

Paid duty hours of work shall be in accordance with the Employment Standards Act, 2000.

All amounts are payable via the electronic commerce tool at the time of ordering. Selected customers shall be invoiced, due and payable in full on receipt of an invoice issued by York Regional Police. Paid Duties involving 5 or more Officers shall require payment lead-time three business days in advance of the event. Payment shall be by credit card, certified cheque or money order, payable to:

Late payments are subject to interest charges at the prevailing rate.

Delinquent payments or NSF cheques will result in suspension of further contracts for service.

Paid duty cancellations must be in writing by email to paiddutyrequest@yrp.ca. Where cancellation notification is not received by York Regional Police 24 hours prior to the commencement of the event, a minimum 3 hour charge (plus administrative fee) will apply for each member booked for the paid duty. Parties, who cancel a Paid Duty within one hour of the event, shall be charged a minimum of four (4) hours time (plus administration fees). Provision of paid duty services in accordance with this contract is subject to prior approval of York Regional Police. In the event approval is not granted, the contract shall become null and void.

Where a paid duty request has been received 48 hours prior to the event, the requester will be notified if the service has been approved or not approved, 24 hours before the event. Where the paid duty request has not been received 48 hours before the event, York Regional Police will endeavour to notify of non-approval in advance of the event, but cannot guarantee it will be able to do so.
